In the Udmurt Republic, preparations for the 2024 sowing campaign have begun. It is planned that it will enter an active phase in the second decade of April, and the sowing of the main crops will be completed at the end of May.
According to Olga Abramova, First Deputy Prime Minister of Udmurtia, this year it is planned to increase the total area of crops in the republic. It will amount to 922 thousand hectares, which is 6 thousand hectares more than last year.
Winter crops were sown on 80.2 thousand hectares,
the provision of prepared seeds for most crops in 2024 is already higher than the level of the same period last year. For cereals and leguminous crops, it is 107%, including wheat 106%, barley 103%, oats 135%. However, the provision of fiber flax seeds is 93%, and the seed material of potatoes exceeds 100%.
Work continues in the region to improve soil fertility. The plan for the application of mineral fertilizers is increasing. For 2024, it is 74.6 thousand tons of f.i., which is 22% higher than last year. At that time, an average of 30 kg per hectare of land was applied in the republic, and this season it is planned to introduce 34 kg/ha.
The sowing campaign of 2024 will involve more than 4 thousand units of tractors of various modifications, more than 800 seeders, 806 plows, 1 thousand cultivators. The readiness of equipment for field work is 93%. Farms are 11% ahead of last year.
In total, in 2023, farmers purchased 199 new tractors, 46 combine harvesters, 39 forage harvesters and 883 units of other equipment to work in the field. Since January 1 of this year, the purchase of equipment has also been actively underway – 30 units to date. The total acquisition plan by the end of the year has also increased by 8% – this is 274 units. If we compare the purchase of equipment with last year, then for all types, except for combine harvesters, there is an overfulfillment of the plan.
“It was calculated that the village will need 32,000 tons of diesel and more than 2,000 tons of gasoline for the season. Since March 1, the Government of the country has imposed restrictions on the export of gasoline and increased the standards for the sale of diesel fuel at exchange trading. These measures will “delay” fuel in the regions and will not allow last year’s situation to repeat itself,” Olga Abramova said.
Recall that for several years in Udmurtia, agricultural land has been systematically put into circulation, last year 15 thousand hectares. For 2024, the plan includes land plots with a total area of 18 thousand hectares. These are funds from the federal budget in the amount of 6.8 million rubles, and the republican – 1.6 million.
The total amount of state support for the development of crop production in 2024 will be more than 343 million ruble

Each crop has its own critical period of greatest sensitivity to weeds. In crops of continuous row sowing, it is short and proceeds with less impact on the crop. In
